ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS– The Office of Management & Budget’s (OMB) Director, Jenifer C. O’Neal, would like to inform the community that the Agency will host a series of pop-up in-person data collection events, from June 13th, 2023 – June 22nd, 2023, to assist Social Security Benefit recipients with applying for a one-time $500 stipend. These events will be opened only to first-time applicants, consumers that applied during the last distribution cycle but did not receive a check to date, and benefit recipients who have not received a payment previously.
Eligible individuals, who received Social Security benefits prior to October 1, 2022, and are not able to utilize the Service Now online platform to electronically submit their documents, can present them in person at select locations on all three islands. OMB staff will be on site from 9:00am – 4:00pm to compile applicant data for payment processing. Attendees are urged to bring water and/or a snack if any existing medical conditions will require nutriment or hydration.
Benefit recipients will be required to furnish the documents listed below to the intake personnel who will determine eligibility and create a case on their behalf.
- USVI Photo Identification which shows your full legal name, i.e., Driver’s License, local Government Issued ID Card, Senior Citizen ID Card, or Voters Registration Card
- IRS Form SSA-1099 showing Social Security benefits prior to October 1, 2022, Social Security Statement or Benefit Verification Letter
- Social Security Card (if providing statement/benefit letter only)
- Complete current mailing address (must be a U.S. Virgin Islands address)
In-person registration assistance will be conducted at the following locations within the territory:
St. Croix
June 13th & 14th – Sunny Isles Annex, Unit 4 (Atrium in front of the Election System office)
St. Thomas
June 15th & 16th – Tutu Park Mall, near the Information Booth
St. John
June 20th & 21st – St. John Legislative Building
The community is still encouraged to visit the Agency’s website at https://omb.vi.gov to apply for the stipend electronically. This process allows for applicants to receive real-time updates via email on the status of their case. Residents that have submitted a case online should not attend any subsequent in-person events. At this time, recipients do not need to visit the OMB offices to provide information.
