Yvette Jackson is a devoted mother to one daughter and a proud grandmother to one granddaughter, roles that bring her immense joy and fulfillment. She is someone who values life’s simple pleasures, whether it is traveling to new destinations, enjoying a good book, or discovering new places and experiences. Calm, thoughtful, and grounded, Yvette finds peace in being near the ocean, where the sound of the water offers her comfort and reflection. She also dreams of one day visiting places such as the Maldives or Thailand, drawn by their beauty, serenity, and connection to the sea. What Yvette enjoys most about working at OMB is the opportunity to serve within an agency that sits at the center of government operations. She appreciates being able to witness and understand the important work being carried out across different departments and agencies while contributing in a meaningful way herself. For her, the experience has been both rewarding and purposeful, allowing her to grow professionally while supporting something greater than herself. Currently serving as Human Resources Manager for the Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Finance, and the Bureau of Information Technology, Yvette oversees critical human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, interviews, orientation, employee engagement, training, and selection processes. She values the ability to support both employees and the organization, helping create an environment where people can succeed and thrive. Yvette’s professional journey began in 1996 at the Department of Human Services, where she worked as a Management Evaluator. Transitioning from the private sector into public service was initially an adjustment, but it became the start of a meaningful and rewarding career. She later returned briefly to the private sector as an Administrative Assistant with VitelCom before making the decision to return to government service in 2004 to spend more time with her daughter. Over the years, Yvette held several positions that shaped her experience and strengthened her passion for public service. At the Bureau of Internal Revenue, she served as an Administrative Specialist before being promoted to Revenue Audit Trainee. In 2007, she joined the Law Enforcement Planning Commission as a Confidential Secretary and eventually advanced to Executive Assistant and Office Manager during her twelve-year tenure there. Working closely with OMB on special projects and budgeting initiatives gave her firsthand exposure to the agency’s impact and deepened her appreciation for its mission. Her career later led her to the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority, where she worked as both a Compliance and Management Evaluator and a Recruiting and Training Manager. In these roles, she supported agency-wide recruitment efforts while helping ensure compliance with federal disaster recovery funding requirements. In 2023, she returned to what she considers her true passion, human resources, by joining the Judicial Branch of the Virgin Islands as an Employee Relationship Coordinator. About a year and a half later, she accepted the opportunity to join OMB as Human Resources Manager, a role she proudly describes as bringing together purpose, service, and personal growth. Looking ahead, Yvette hopes to retire within the next four years, God willing, while still healthy enough to travel and fully enjoy life’s experiences. Until then, she remains committed to supporting OMB’s continued growth and contributing wherever she is needed. She also remains open to opportunities for advancement and further professional development, always grateful for the journey, the relationships she has built, and the experiences that have shaped her career. Professionally, Yvette is most proud of the woman she has become through perseverance, faith, and resilience. She believes that even during uncertain moments, God always provides a way forward. Personally, her greatest accomplishment is her daughter, whom she describes with deep pride and admiration. What continues to motivate Yvette each day are the people around her. She values working alongside individuals who genuinely care for others and bring positive energy into the workplace. Their kindness, encouragement, and support remind her that the work they do truly matters. Even small gestures, such as a thoughtful message or a quick visit, can uplift and inspire her during challenging moments. To anyone beginning a career in human resources, Yvette advises taking the time to fully understand the policies and procedures that guide the work, as they form the foundation for sound decision-making. She encourages building strong relationships, staying organized, communicating clearly, and always maintaining fairness, professionalism, and integrity. Above all, she believes discretion and honesty are essential qualities that help build trust and allow a person to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
